چکیده

Slabs of natural and depleted uranium are used routinely to calibrate personal dosimeters and radiation survey instruments for beta radiation. However, little information is available on the absorbed dose rate produced by a uranium slab as a function of depth in matter. In this study, an extrapolation chamber was used to measure the dose rate produced by natural uranium at a variety of depths in a tissue-equivalent material (Mylar). The dose rate decreases from 11,900 mrad h I at the surface of the uranium to 229mrad h -~ at a depth of 7mg cm -2 and to about 60mrad h -I at a depth of about 250 mg cm2.

محاسبات آهنگ دز ناشی از پرتوزایی طبیعی موجود در سنگ‌های گرانیتی ساختمانی در ایران

All building materials contain various amounts of natural radioactive nuclides. Materials derived from rock and soil contain mainly natural radionuclides of the uranium (238U) and thorium (232Th) series, and the radioactive isotope of potassium (40K). Radiation exposure due to building materials can be divided into external and internal exposure. The external exposure is caused by direct gamma ...

بررسی اثر تغییر انرژی بر توزیع عمق-دوز در پروتون درمانی تومور چشمی با استفاده از کد MCNPX

Introduction: Depth-dose distribution curve of protons in the matter has a maximum is called Bragg peak. Bragg peak of a monoenergetic proton beam is too narrow. The spread out Bragg peak should be created for full coverage of the tumor. The spread out Bragg peak is obtained in the depth of the tumor with superposition of the several Bragg peaks. The aim of this study was coverage of an eye tum...

Experimental Evaluation of Depth Dose by Exit Surface Diode Dosimeters for Off-Axis Wedged Fields in Radiation Therapy

Introduction Evaluation of the delivered dose of externally wedged photon beams by external diode dosimeters during the treatment process requires the estimation of exit surface dose correction factors in various wedge angles and field sizes. Materials and Methods A system of absorbed dose evaluation, using p-type diode dosimeters placed on the exit surface of a phantom, was characterized for e...

Proof of Symmetric Dose Distribution in Mammosite Applicator in Breast Brachytherapy with MCNP Simulation

Introduction: In brachytherapy treatments, high-dose sources are used in interstitial placement. In this paper, the modeling of a common breast cancer treatment applicator called MammoSite is done by the Monte Carlo simulation code. Then, to study and calculate the amount of doses in the breast and the dose rate of the organs at risk of radiation, including: lungs, ribs and ski...
